With 21 days until the election, Cranston Mayor Allan Fung has released his plan to help veterans when they return from combat.
Fung says if elected, one of the first things he would do is to make the position of Director of the Division of Veterans Affairs a cabinet level position.
“The most important thing I can do is to assure all Rhode Islanders that when I am governor, I will do all that I can to respond to the unique concerns of and needs of Rhode Island veterans,” said Fung.
The Cranston mayor also proposed measures to returning veterans connect with local businesses to readjust to civilian life.
Fung says the change is important, “to make sure that we are, as a whole, bringing together all the benefits, all the services that are available to these veterans so that there is one coordinated shop to address veterans and their perspective issues statewide.”
