Congressman David Cicilline co-owns the building where the Vault Lounge is located and says the tenants will stay.
“We’re bound to honor the lease tenants have in the building,” said Cicilline.
Late last month, a double stabbing near the lounge was part of a violent weekend in Providence. Police held a press conference the next day to address the issue.
Cicilline expects his tenants to conduct their business appropriately. He says if there is any evidence proving they have not conducted their business appropriately, they should be held accountable. However he has not been presented with any evidence.
Last week, State Senator Paul Jabour called for more police on Federal Hill as well as the night clubs removed.
“I think it is very important that every neighborhood in this city be safe and I’ll leave it to the Mayor and city officials to make decisions that they think advance that. I’m not going to second guess their judgments on those issues,” said Cicilline.
