The Coast Guard is searching for the last of three missing fishermen after their boat capsized Thursday evening.
Two of the fishermen were found early Friday morning, one had swam to the rocks of the Sakonnet Lighthouse and the other was found clinging to a lobster buoy about a mile from shore according to a release by the Coast Guard; each was suffering from hypothermia.
The Coast Guard reports that the engine of the boat failed and began taking on water and sank.
The final fisherman is reportedly wearing survival gear and a flotation device and officials are confident he will be found.
“We have probably a couple dozen, between Coast Guard and firefighters; the Narragansett Bay Marine Taskforce is operating on the water along with the Coast Guard with a helicopter and two or three vessels,” said Little Compton Fire Chief Robert Petrin.
The three men went overdue six hours before the search began around midnight.
Search teams are covering an area of more than 370 square miles.
