CENTRAL FALLS, R.I. (AP) – The mayors of Providence and Central Falls plan to discuss the cities’ first year of work in a partnership aimed at reducing substance abuse.
Providence Mayor Angel Taveras and Central Falls Mayor James Diossa have scheduled a Wednesday news conference at Central Falls City Hall.
Taveras’ office says the event will include a review of data collected in the past year on substance abuse among Central Falls youth and the introduction of a plan for the partnership’s work going forward.
The cities announced the partnership a year ago. It was made possible through a $75,000 mentoring grant to Providence’s Substance Abuse Prevention Council from the federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration.
