Just hours after winning the Republican nomination for Governor, Allan Fung joined GOP nominee for Lieutenant Governor on the campaign trail Wednesday.
“We’re back on the trail this morning, meeting people, talking about my vision for turning the state around, and getting more business friendly. Because that’s the whole mantra, getting people back to work in the state,” said Fung.
The two visited Pilgrim Senior Center in Warwick to meet with residents and talk about their campaigns.
“Catherine and I have known each other for a long time and that Fung/Taylor team is a strong team that I’m proud to be part of,” said Fung, “Both of us sent a strong message that we’re a formidable team that’s going to representing the transformation that Rhode Island needs.”
For Taylor, the campaign represents a chance to repair the GOP brand in the Ocean State.
“A lot of independent voters would be Republicans if the brand weren’t so tarnished and so what we’re trying to do is show what the GOP in Rhode Island really is,” said Taylor.
And for Taylor, the timing couldn’t be better.
”One of the beautiful messages out of yesterday’s primary results is that Rhode Island voters are really looking at people for the ideas, the experience that they bring to the table and they’re being color blind and they’re being gender blind and it’s very exciting.”
Fung will face off against Treasurer Gina Raimondo for the governor’s seat, while Taylor will square off against newly minted Democratic nominee Cumberland Mayor Dan McKee.
