Providence police have found a decomposed body in a barrel.
Police say they were called to Leander Street on Sunday afternoon. The human remains were located inside the barrel at about 4 p.m.
Major David Lapatin of the Providence Police said the body was found in a city-issued trash barrel which had been relocated. Police do not know how long the barrel had been at that location. Lapatin also said the body had been decomposing for several months.
Police have not yet identified the body.
The investigation is ongoing.
