NEWS: Cops: man attacks woman with knife, stabs himself

CENTRAL FALLS, R.I. (AP) – Central Falls police say a man slashed a 19-year-old woman in the face, then slit both his wrists and stabbed himself in the abdomen.

Officers and paramedics responded to the double stabbing at an apartment on Brook Street on Thursday afternoon. A neighbor says the woman was bleeding heavily and screaming for people to call the police, and a young boy was in the apartment at the time.

The 25-year-old man and the woman are being treated at different hospitals. Their names and conditions haven’t been released. The boy wasn’t harmed.

Police are trying to determine what prompted the attack. They’re investigating whether the man and woman previously were in a relationship.
