PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) – A heat advisory continues in much of Rhode Island for a second day, as temperatures are expected to hit the 90s.
The National Weather Service says the temperature will feel closer to the upper 90s or even 100 Tuesday due to a high dew point. The worst of it is expected in the afternoon and early evening.
They recommend that people drink plenty of water, stay out of the sun and stay in an air conditioned environment if possible.
The Rhode Island Emergency Management Agency says communities around the state are operating cooling centers and some senior centers, public libraries and other locations.
The heat advisory is expected to last until 7 p.m. in eastern and western Kent County, northwest and southeast Providence County and Washington County.
