NORTH PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) – North Providence police say a married couple found bludgeoned to death in their home were the parents of the man charged in their killings.
Police say the bodies of 60-year-old Young Yu and 61-year-old Yeon Yu were found wrapped in sheets at their Noto Drive home Sunday. A relative who had not heard recently from the Yus asked police to check on them.
Their son, 36-year-old Mark Yu, was arraigned on two counts of murder Monday at Kent County District Court. He was ordered detained without bail and will undergo a competency review.
Authorities say the Yus were dead for about two days when their bodies were found. Police say they found Mark Yu locked in a bathroom in the home.
It's not clear why the couple were killed.
