Governor Lincoln Chafee has nominated former state representative Chris Fierro as Chairman of the three-member Rhode Island Board of Review.
According to the Governor’s office, Fierro’s annual salary will fall somewhere between of $77,810 to $88,177.
Since 2011, Chris Fierro has served as the District Director for Congressman David Cicilline. Fierro is responsible for developing and implementing the Congressman’s policy objectives, strategies and operating plans for the district office, and serves as the Congressman’s representative at events and meetings.
Fierro was a member of the Rhode Island House of Representatives from 2009 to 2011, representing District 51 in Woonsocket. He served on the House Committees on Corporations, Municipal Government, and Finance.
From 2006 to 2011, Chris worked as a Research Specialist with the New England Carpenters Labor Management Program. From 2004 to 2006 he was a Servicing Representative with the Service Employees International Union, District 1199.
Chris holds a B.A. in Social Thought and Political Economy and an M.S. in Labor Studies, both from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
“Chris will bring a great deal of valuable experience in both government and labor relations to this important Board,” Governor Chafee said in a statement.
The Rhode Island Board of Review is an autonomous, quasi-judicial agency that renders decisions on appeals from the Department of Labor & Training (DLT), Unemployment Compensation and Temporary Disability Insurance divisions, and from employers on certain tax status issues.
