PAWTUCKET, R.I. (AP) – Additional flooding is expected along the Pawtuxet River from a second round of heavy rain in Rhode Island.
The National Weather Service says there has already been minor flooding as the river rose to 10 feet early Monday after last week's heavy rains. Flood stage is nine feet.
With more heavy rainfall, the river is expected to rise to 11 feet by Tuesday evening, bringing the threat of moderate flooding.
Homes in low-lying sections of Warwick, as well as homes and businesses on Wellington Avenue and Avery Road in Cranston, could be affected.
The weather service also issued a flood watch for the rest of the state through Tuesday evening. The state could see an inch to 21/2 inches of rain.
