Amber Martufi, 23, of Manville, was arrested after the car she was driving struck State Police cruiser on Route 295 North at the Route 7 overpass early Tuesday morning.
According to police, Martufi’s 2005 Ford collided with the rear of a Rhode Island State Police cruiser, which was parked and had its flashing lights on.
Martufi was not injured as a result of the crash, but the Trooper that was struck was initially unconscious. He regained consciousness prior to being transported by Smithfield Rescue to Rhode Island Hospital.
Martufi showed multiple signs of intoxication and failed a series of field sobriety tests. She was transported to State Police Headquarters where she refused to submit to a chemical breath test. She was held overnight and will be arraigned Tuesday at 10 a.m.
Martufi was charged with Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicating Liquor or Drugs, Serious Bodily Injury Resulting and Driving to Endanger, Serious Bodily Injury Resulting.
