PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) – The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority is holding public hearings throughout the state to collect input from riders on proposed service changes.
RIPTA has scheduled two meetings in Providence on Thursday. One is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Chamber of Commerce building. The second is from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at RIPTA headquarters.
Hearings are also being held next week in South Kingstown, Warwick, Newport and Pawtucket.
RIPTA says the proposed changes would affect dozens of bus routes and all Park and Ride service. They include the possible elimination of some routes or route segments; the addition of some new routes and express services; and changes in the frequency of some routes.
The proposed changes are part of a comprehensive RIPTA review of its transit services.
