The body found in a trash barrel along a bike path in Warwick’s City Park Saturday has been identified as John “Jack” Fay, 66, of Warwick (pictured at right).
Warwick Police say Fay is a retired postal worker and an avid runner who often used the bike path and running trail where his body was found.
Police believe Fay’s death occurred somewhere between Thursday evening and Friday, and they are actively investigating it as a homicide.
“Once we can detail the specifics of the City Park situation, we will be able to allay many concerns that we have heard from residents,” Mayor Scott Avedisian told WPRO Monday. “Until that time, we have increased police presence in the area. [I] have been working with Colonel McCartney and Council President Travis on making residents understand the situation and make them comfortable with visible police presence.”
Please ask the public to call the Warwick Police Department Detective Division, Sgt. Mark Canning 468-4236 or TIPS 732-8477; or 468-4233; with any information.
