After the Senate approved an amended version of Sen. Donna Nesselbush's (D-Pawtucket) and Rep. Arthur Handy's (D-Cranston) marriage equality bills, the bills had to make their way back to the House Committee on Judiciary for a second approval.
On Tuesday afternoon, the committee unanimously voted in favor of sending both bills to a full House vote.
Rep. Doreen Costa (R-North Kingstown) was the only member of the committee to hint at her opposition of the bills, saying she would vote it out of committee, but would vote against it on the floor.
The committee had already passed the original version of the bill unanimously in January.
The full Rhode Island House of Representatives will conduct a final vote on the bills on Thursday, and, if approved, Rhode Island will become the 10th state in the nation and the final state in New England to legalize same-sex marriage.
