Eight men from across Rhode Island were arrested today for possession of child pornography.
The arrest was the result of a child pornography sweep dubbed “Operation Iceberg” and carried out by members of local and state police forces, as well as federal agents.
According to authorities, each person has more than 20 or 30 images in their possession. Each will face felony charges.
The defendants will be arraigned Tuesday afternoon at the following district courthouses: 2nd Division District Court in Newport, 3rd Division District Court in Warwick and 6th Division District Court in Providence.
State Police Lieutenant Todd Catlow said there’s no evidence that the men knew each other, or that any children were victims.
