A building at the Flanagan Campus of the Community College of Rhode Island in Lincoln was evacuated at noon Friday after an employee came into contact with a potentially hazardous substance.
Hazmat crews rushed to the scene where WPRO has learned an administrative assistant opened an envelope with a white substance inside. CCRI confirmed that the white powder is a sugar based substance. They say it is being sent to the Rhode Island Department of Health for confirmation.
CCRI is being opened to allow students and staff back in to retrieve their belongings. Classes will resume tomorrow.
