The Providence Police successfully used the SafetyNet by LoJack personal locator system for the first time Tuesday to find a missing 92-year-old man with dementia.
Police were notified late Tuesday afternoon that the man had gone missing near Pitman Street in Providence.
Family members told police that the man was was a participant in the SafetyNet System, which is comprised of a bracelet worn by the client that emits a radio frequency signal.
Within 15 minutes of the man being reported missing, the police activated the tracking equipment and were able to narrow down the search area to locate the man at a Salvation Army Thrift Store on Pitman Street.
The Providence Police have been using SafetyNet since May.
