Providence and Warwick will play host to the 2015 U.S. Synchronized Skating Championships.
“We’re really excited about it. It brings more people into the city, gives us a chance to showcase the city and the state. We’re working in conjunction with Warwick to make it happen, so it’s an exciting thing,” says Providence Mayor Angel Taveras.
The event, taking place February 25-28, 2015, is projected to draw in 100 teams from across the United States.
“We need to do everything we can to showcase our city. Not only to get people to come in and spend money and enjoy it but also gives us a chance to showcase it as it will be broadcast, people will get to learn more about Providence and make a decision to come visit and that’s good for our economy,” says Taveras.
It will take place mostly at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center, with Warwick’s Thayer Arena also being used for some of the competition. The Warwick Figure Skaters will serve as the host club.
