WEATHER: Rhode Islanders busy prepping for potential blizzard

Southern New Englanders are getting ready for what’s forecasted to be a major winter storm.
Benny’s in Smithfield was packed with people buying snow supplies like shovels, ice melt, scrapers and snow tubes.

“I need a lantern, because last time we had no power I was using a candle and a flashlight, and it wasn’t enough to light the room,” said Ann from Chepachet.

“I’m buying two sleds for my kids, to keep them busy on the weekend,” said Mary from Johnston.

At Target in Smithfield (pictured at right) the bread aisle was nearly cleaned out by early Thursday afternoon.

Shoppers said they’re getting their goods early, and learned their lesson from Irene and Sandy.
