THEATER: There’s lots of great productions springing up now that the holiday season is a thing of the past. Trinity Rep has a stimulating version of “Crime and Punishment” playing in their Dowling Theater through Feb. 24 (trinityrep.com). The Gamm has just opened a silly, sexy “Anne Boleyn,” which has already been extended due to popular demand (gammtheatre.org). And Ocean State Theatre Company, Warwick’s newest theater, will open their production of Neil Simon’s “Fools” tonight (oceanstatetheatre.org). The East Greenwich Odeum Theatre on Main Street will light the lights for the first time in 5 years tomorrow, for a grand re-opening celebration featuring talent from across the state (theodeum.org).
MOVIES:“Funeral Kings,” a movie written and directed by native Rhode Islanders Kevin and Matthew McManus, will play at the Cable Car Cinema in Providence this weekend. The film was shot in the Ocean State and includes many locals in the cast and crew. More information at CableCarCinema.com.
BEAUTY WEEK:Hurry up ladies, it’s the final two days of the first ever, Rhode Island Beauty Week! Eight beauty spa locations across the state have teamed up to offer special deals on hair, nail and beauty treatments. ART:Providence artist Kate Blacklock will open her show, “Across Time” tonight at the Candita Clayton Studio in Pawtucket. The opening reception will be tonight from 6 to 9 p.m. at 999 Main Street, Unit 105, Pawtucket. Blacklock’s exhibit will include both 2D and 3D works. More info at canditaclaytonstudio.com.
MUSIC: On Sunday at 8 p.m., First Works will present Pulitzer Prize-winner, Wynton Marsalis with the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra. The 15-member jazz band is comprised of the jazz world’s leading soloists, and will perform the best of American big band and swing.More info at ppacri.org.
