A proposed Rhode Island law would stop motorists from driving with their dogs on their laps.
The Associated Press reports that Rep. Peter Palumbo announced legislation this week that would allow police to fine drivers $85 who have their pet on their lap. Palumbo says people pose a danger to themselves, their dog and other drivers when doing this.
His legislation has been referred to the House Judiciary for review.
