An unexpected death of an inmate at the Wyatt Detention center is currently under investigation.
On Saturday December 1 an inmate was found unresponsive in his cell around 7:15 a.m. Central Falls Fire Department and medical personnel was called to the scene. State Police and the Deputy United State Marshall from the District of Rhode Island and the District of Connecticut responded to investigate.
The death is not deemed suspicious at this point. The Rhode Island Medical Examiner’s office will conduct an autopsy to indicate the exact cause of death. According to State Police the inmate had recently been transferred to the Wyatt Detention center from Connecticut and has a pre-existing medical condition.
The inmate’s name has not yet been released.
