PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) – Rhode Island State Police have released the name of the man struck and killed while trying to cross Interstate 95 on foot earlier this week.

Police say 30-year-old Gregory Perez, of Providence, was attempting to cross the highway at about 2 a.m. Wednesday when he was struck and killed by a northbound vehicle.

Perez’s vehicle broke down in the area and police said they do not think he was trying to harm himself.

The driver who struck Perez stayed at the scene and police do not anticipate bringing charges.

Perez worked in the real estate industry.
