Fortuitous Partners founder says he doesn’t need Apex site to become available for proposed stadium

Tidewater Landing, a $400 million economic development project along the Blackstone River in Pawtucket, as proposed by New York – based Fortuitous Partners, which describes itself as “a diversified opportunity fund platform investing in professional sports anchored multi-asset developments in opportunity zones.”

The developer planning to build a soccer stadium in Pawtucket, with shops, apartments, eateries, watering holes and office space, says he’s not waiting for the Apex site to become available. Brett Johnson saying on Fox Providence’s Dan Yorke State of Mind that while Hasbro hasn’t said they want it, he’s fine if they take it, because he can put more attractions on the Tidewater site – where he wants the stadium – making it a year-round destination. Right now the city and the owners of Apex are reported $6 to 8 million apart on price, and Johnson tells Yorke he needs to start soon so the stadium doesn’t miss its planned first soccer season. Johnson adds, if he needs to build more and Apex isn’t available, McCoy Stadium will be available after the next baseball season.
