Another high level member is leaving Governor Gina Raimondo’s cabinet at the end of the year.

Department of Behavioral Healthcare, Developmental Disabilities and Hospitals Director Rebecca Boss is leaving the agency which she has headed for the last 3 1/2 years “to pursue new opportunities”, according to a news release from her agency.

Serving as acting director for 10 months prior to leading the agency as director she caps a 15-year career with BHDDH.

“Becky Boss is a dedicated public servant, a compassionate leader and a champion for Rhode Island’s most vulnerable residents,” said Gov. Raimondo in a statement.

In October, Raimondo announced her Director of Administration, Michael DiBiase was leaving to lead the Rhode Island Public Expenditure Council. She has appointed her Chief of Staff, Brett Smiley to serve as Acting Director of Administration, and Senior Advisor David Ortiz as her new Chief of Staff.

The statement from BHDDH said a search for a replacement for Boss would begin immediately.
