PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) – The father of a man accused of fatally stabbing a man at a Rhode Island hookah lounge has made a plea for his son to turn himself into police.

Samuel Francisco said Wednesday that the “right thing to do” for his son, 41-year-old Joel Francisco, would be to turn himself in.

The Providence Journal reports Joel Francisco has been accused of fatally stabbing 46-year-old Troy Pine in Nara Lounge hookah bar in Providence’s Federal Hill neighborhood on Oct. 2.

Authorities are seeking him on a warrant. Samuel Francisco said he doesn’t know where Joel Francisco is and has not had contact with him since the stabbing.

He added that this whole ordeal has been very difficult for him and he’s not sure “how something like that could happen.”
