PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) – Police say a confrontation between two men inside a Rhode Island hookah lounge ended with a 47-year-old man stabbed to death.

Providence police Maj. David Lapatin says the man was stabbed in the Nara Lounge in the city’s Federal Hill neighborhood just before midnight Wednesday.

He says the men did not arrive together but “there was some connection or contact made while they were both inside.”

The victim went outside after the stabbing while the suspect fled through another door.

The victim’s name wasn’t released.

No arrests have been announced but police say they know who the suspect is.

The death is the city’s 12th homicide of the year, and second in less than a week.

Lapatin says police will ask the city’s Board of Licenses to temporarily close the bar.
