PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — Rhode Island Lt. Gov. Dan McKee did not disclose a trip he took to Asia last year even though a Rhode Island Ethics Commission ruling requires him to do so.
The commission requires that state officials report any out-of-state trips valued at more than $250 and paid for by a foreign government.
WPRI-TV reports that McKee has acknowledged he failed to disclose the 2017 trip to Taiwan and has amended the form.
The Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Boston, an arm of the Taiwan government, paid $3,500 for McKee’s travel, lodging and food expenses on that trip.
McKee says he realized the form needed to be amended while reviewing the reporting rules for another trip this week to Taiwan and China that Taiwan’s government is paying for.
