Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Jackson Browne to appear at PPAC this week

Singer-songwriter Jackson Browne’s Spring 2018 tour hits the Providence Performing Arts Center this Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at 7:30P. Vonda Shepard will be the opening act for Jackson’s concert at PPAC.

Browne’s longtime band mates Bob Glaub (bass), Mauricio Lewak (Drums), Val McCallum (guitar), Alethea Mills (Vocals), Chavonne Stewart (vocals), Jeff Young (keyboards), and the acclaimed multi-instrumentalist Greg Leisz (guitar, lap steel, pedal steel.)

The spring tour has thus far consisted of lengthy, two set performances of songs from throughout Browne’s career, spanning from 1972’s eponymous first album through his latest effort, 2014’s “Standing in the Breach.” The set is heavily weighted towards Browne’s chart hits, performing such tunes as “Somebody’s Baby,” “Doctor My Eyes,” “Running on Empty,” and the Eagles song he cowrote with the late Glenn Fry, “Take it Easy.”

Jackson Browne was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004 and the Songwriter’s Hall of Fame in 2007.

His debut album came out on David Geffen’s Asylum Records in 1972. Since then, he has released fourteen studio albums and four collections of live performances. His most recent studio album, Standing In The Breach, is a collection of ten songs, “at turns deeply personal and political, exploring love, hope, and defiance in the face of the advancing uncertainties of modern life.”
