Two Woonsocket men were arrested by Rhode Island State Police Tuesday after they were discovered transporting a large number of stolen traffic cones in the backseat of a car.

State Police report that just after midnight Tuesday morning, a state trooper working a street stripping crew on Diamond Hill Road saw a gray Volkswagen with traffic cones in the backseat.

The driver, Nicholas Raymond, 22, and passenger Thomas Blackshaw, 25, admitted to taking 20 cones after the line crews finished painting new stripes on the road. The cones were later determined to be owned by TMI Services.

Both men were arraigned for larceny under $1,500, with a bail set at $1,000.

Both men face either a year in jail or a fine of $500.
